Bóymoder Bechamel
Ingredients
For 1 person/portion
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- ½ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Pepper and other seasonings you like
Bigger portion (8x)
- ½ cup butter (113g)
- ½ cup flour (60g)
- 4 cups milk
- 1 tablespoon salt
- Pepper and other seasonings you like
Instructions
- On a cooking pot at low heat, melt the butter, stiring constantly so it doesn't burn
- Once the butter is all melted, add the flour and whisk until all the flour is combined with the butter
- Then add the milk, whisk vigorously to break up any lumps and prevent the milk from burning (be sure to get the corners of the pot as well!)
- Once it starts bubbling, add the salt and seasonings (for it to start boiling faster, you can use already warm milk :3)
- Turn off the heat and whisk for a few more seconds
- Enjoy your boymoder bechamel (with whatever else) :3
Notes
- The bechamel will thicken a bit after cooling down, don't panic if it's too liquid out of the heat
- If after cooling down the bechamel is too liquid, bring it back to heat and add more flour (~½ tablespoon at a time)
- If after cooling down the bechamel is too thick, bring it back to heat and add more milk
- If you can't use a metal whisk with your cooking pot, you can also use a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, it just makes it harder to break up the lumps
- If by the end there are still lumps, pass the bechamel through a sift
